Terms & Conditions

Joelle Davis Ceramics

These terms apply when you use this website, place an order, or book a workshop. By doing so, you agree to the following.

1. About

Joelle Davis Ceramics is a UK-based sole trader studio.

If you need to get in touch, please email joelledavisceramics@gmail.com.

2. Website Content

All content on this website, including photographs, product designs, text, names and layout, belongs to Joelle Davis Ceramics unless stated otherwise.

You may not copy, reproduce or use any material without written permission.

Information on this website is provided in good faith and may be updated or amended at any time.

3. Handmade Work

All pieces are handmade. Variations in shape, glaze, colour and surface are part of the ceramic process and not faults.

Measurements and volumes are approximate.

Colours may appear slightly different depending on screen settings.

Online Shop

4. Pricing & Payment

All prices are listed in GBP (£).

I am not currently VAT registered.

Payment is required in full at checkout.

I reserve the right to cancel an order if an item has been listed incorrectly or becomes unavailable.

5. Shipping

I dispatch orders within 5 working days.

Shipping is currently available within the United Kingdom only.

Orders are sent using a tracked service and you will receive tracking details once dispatched.

Delivery times are estimates and may vary. Once a parcel has been handed to the courier, Joelle Davis Ceramics is not responsible for postal delays.

Please ensure your delivery address is correct at checkout. I cannot be responsible for orders delivered to an incorrect address provided by the customer.

Risk passes to the recipient upon delivery.

6. Returns

Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have 14 days from receiving goods to cancel your order.

To return an item, please contact me within 14 days of delivery.

Items must be returned:

  • Unused

  • In original condition

  • Carefully and securely packaged

Return postage is the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty.

If a returned item is damaged due to inadequate packaging, Joelle Davis Ceramics reserves the right to reduce or refuse the refund where the item is no longer saleable.

It is strongly recommended that a tracked and insured postal service is used when returning items, as I cannot accept responsibility for items lost or damaged in return transit.

Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receiving the returned item.

Custom-made, commissioned or personalised items are exempt from the statutory 14-day cancellation period and cannot be cancelled or returned simply because you have changed your mind. This does not affect your rights in relation to faulty, damaged or incorrectly described goods.

7. Damaged or Faulty Items

If your order arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery and provide photographs of the item and packaging.

Faulty items will be handled in accordance with UK consumer law.

Workshops

8. Booking & Payment

A 50% deposit is required to secure a workshop booking. If a booking is cancelled, the deposit may be retained to cover costs already incurred and losses resulting from the cancellation. Any amount retained will be reasonable and proportionate to those costs and losses.

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 14 days before the workshop date.

If the balance is not received by this deadline, I reserve the right to cancel the workshop and retain the deposit.

The booking host is responsible for the full agreed workshop fee, regardless of any change in participant numbers.

Minimum group size and travel charges are agreed at the time of booking.

Workshop format and any specific demonstration options must be confirmed in advance of the session. Where a workshop involves a specific design or subject (for example, an animal figurine), the booking host must confirm the selection prior to the workshop to allow for preparation and to ensure the session runs to time.

9. Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you need to cancel, please let me know in writing as soon as possible.

  • Cancellations more than 14 days before the workshop: any balance paid will be refunded, but the deposit may be retained in accordance with Section 8.

  • Cancellations within 14 days of the workshop may result in up to the full workshop fee becoming payable where preparation, materials, travel arrangements or other costs have already been incurred and the booking cannot be rebooked. Any charges applied will be reasonable and proportionate to the losses arising from the cancellation.

Rescheduling is possible with at least 14 days' notice, subject to availability.

Rescheduling may be offered once per booking. Any further changes may require a new booking and deposit.

If I need to cancel due to illness or circumstances beyond my control, I will offer either:

  • A rescheduled date, or

  • A full refund of all payments made.

10. Venue & Practical Requirements

The booking host is responsible for providing:

  • Suitable table space

  • Adequate working room

  • Parking for unloading and setup

  • Running water for workshops, handwashing and cleaning

I provide clay, tools and surface protection. I do not provide venue hire, refreshments or protective clothing.

Workshops are designed for participants aged 16 and over.

Participants are responsible for following safety guidance during the session.

11. Fired Work

The number of pieces included per participant will be agreed at the time of booking. Any additional pieces requested on the day may incur additional charges.

All work requires drying and kiln firing time. Estimated timelines will be communicated in advance, but exact completion dates cannot be guaranteed. I aim to have all pieces finished within 4 weeks.

Ceramics may warp, crack or vary slightly during drying and firing. These are natural outcomes of the material and kiln process and are not considered faults.

While every care is taken throughout the making and firing process, clay and kiln firing carry inherent risks. As a result, no guarantee can be given that every piece will successfully survive drying, glazing and firing.

In the rare case of complete destruction of a piece, alternatives will be discussed.

Collection or delivery arrangements will be agreed at the time of booking. Where postage is required, packaging and shipping costs may apply.

12. Intellectual Property

All product forms, designs, ceramic concepts, photographs, text, branding and content created by Joelle Davis Ceramics remain the intellectual property of Joelle Davis Ceramics and may not be copied, reproduced or used without prior written permission.

The purchase of a product does not transfer any intellectual property rights to the purchaser.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joelle Davis Ceramics shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or damage arising from the use of its products, workshops, services or website.

17. Circumstances Beyond Reasonable Control
